Answer me honestly, how many of you have finally settled in with your first crush and is living a blissful happily ever after life with him / her? Frankly, I don’t even remember who my first crush was: was it that guy from pre school? Or my then neighbor? The fact lies in this interrogation itself. First crushes are like those crocuses, lasting a warm spring, which if you’re lucky, may pay you a kind visit the next spring too. Now, let’s get to the intrinsics of what I’m trying to tell you, first crushes usually occur at a tender age. Mostly, it’s just an adrenaline rush or some kind of dash by the dopamine. But during that period of time, we are half as stable as an adult (not to mention , some adults tend to remain kids all throughout their lives). So, it’s better if we are wise enough to decide with our head. I’ve seen many of my friends changing goals and forgoing achievements only because they wanted to be with their crush. However, what’s dangerous about infatuation is that it is just the twin sister of love. Yet, what we ought to keep in mind is that, it’s the twin, not love itself 🤗

Monikers… We’ve all been familiar with them. Ever since our birth, we’ve owned more than a dozen such nicknames : Golu, Sweetu, Pintu, Mintu are just to name a few. But those were by the ones who loved or cared and would never really tarnish your self esteem. What I’m trying to talk about are the ones that some people subject us to just because we have some sort of a physical feature which doesn’t yet fit their definition of okay-dokey. I’ve been a proud owner of many such names : Pumpkin, Balloon, Fatso, Fatty, Leech and the weirdest of all, Caterpillar. Some of them were just meant as a way of informal, intimate addressing. Some were meant as derogatory. And others were just because a bunch of guys couldn’t stand me being good friends with the girl they kinda have a crush on so they just had to make me the laughing stock of the class… But what really happened? Did any of those affect me? I wouldn’t lie, but they did at one point of time until I realized, they shouldn’t. Just because someone else calls you something doesn’t necessarily mean you really are or in any way will turn into that thing. Did you notice, every other tree that you come across, every other flower too has a good name and a nickname. Hence people will call you names, it’s pretty much natural and you can’t stop them but you can stop yourself from reacting. .

Mine

Someday you will find someone

Who would love your scars

And turn them soft.

Someday you will find someone

Who would clothe your barren body

To drape you in the love you deserve.

Someday you will find someone

Who would kiss your weak lips

To watch your smile.

Someday you will find someone

Who would pull your hesitant hands

To call you “mine “.

I don’t wish to be that girl

Who came into your life

Like a hale wind

And faded away like dust.

I wish to be that page in your notebook

That you would turn

Over and over to

Every other time you’re out of answers.

That gem on your watch

That would catch your eye

No matter what time

You glanced at it.

And that blanket

That would wrap you around

No matter when

You feel lone and chilly.

One sided love is the best form of love. It is the purest of this torturous feeling called love. Why? Because it is that kind of love for which you don’t need to be in a relationship. It is you and only you who has the authority over it and you don’t need that someone to be with you for it. It is love and only love. There is no fear of losing, no jealousy, no conscience involved and most importantly, there is no fear of getting hurt coz you are already hurt. There is no making a fool of yourself begging love from that someone. It is just acceptance that you have fallen deeply, madly for that lucky someone and there is no scope of getting out.

It’s okay to be in this kind of love. Afterall, it’s okay to just love.

 Tell me a story

Where we last

We don’t hold on

With fragile threads .

Tell me a story

Where we don’t end up

Hurting each other

In our egoistic ways.

Tell me a story

Where you love me

And I don’t have to resort

In a hopeless delusion of love.

I hope you fall in love someday . So much that your day starts with her and your nights end with her. So much that every breath of yours is in her name. Every beat of your heart beats for her. Every drop of your blood bleeds for her and every tear of yours pines for her. I hope you fall in love entirely. I hope you fall in love like me.

Sometimes, I wish I was pretty… And by pretty I mean very pretty, pretty enough for the love of my life to stare at me, with tireless eyes for hours and hours.

Sometimes, I wish I was sweet, sweet enough to chit chat with coating every reality in candies. So much that my lover would wish to spend days and days with me.

Sometimes I wish I was brainy, brainy enough to know everything that he likes, brainy enough to know his world. And then probably he would be more interested in talking with me.

But most of the times I wonder… Would that actually be me…

The last week has been a rather cheesy one. You made me feel special, like I was the only person you cared for.

But I want this to last. I want us to last for as long as eternity.

I accept you the way you are, your idiocies, your childlike innocence, your playfullness, your carefree soul… everything.

I trust you and the promises you made.

I’ll hold on through every odds and evens we face.

And I want our love to last infinity.

The twilight sun paused for a while,

As its rays brushed against the sky.

The zephyrs that blew

Caressed lovingly the palm leaves.

And the waves that curled

Seduced the sand.

And that’s how our first kiss felt.
