Monikers… We’ve all been familiar with them. Ever since our birth, we’ve owned more than a dozen such nicknames : Golu, Sweetu, Pintu, Mintu are just to name a few. But those were by the ones who loved or cared and would never really tarnish your self esteem. What I’m trying to talk about are the ones that some people subject us to just because we have some sort of a physical feature which doesn’t yet fit their definition of okay-dokey. I’ve been a proud owner of many such names : Pumpkin, Balloon, Fatso, Fatty, Leech and the weirdest of all, Caterpillar. Some of them were just meant as a way of informal, intimate addressing. Some were meant as derogatory. And others were just because a bunch of guys couldn’t stand me being good friends with the girl they kinda have a crush on so they just had to make me the laughing stock of the class… But what really happened? Did any of those affect me? I wouldn’t lie, but they did at one point of time until I realized, they shouldn’t. Just because someone else calls you something doesn’t necessarily mean you really are or in any way will turn into that thing. Did you notice, every other tree that you come across, every other flower too has a good name and a nickname. Hence people will call you names, it’s pretty much natural and you can’t stop them but you can stop yourself from reacting. .

Hope shall still shine, even if someone has pushed you down, and another crab has pulled you right after. Mind you, they can knock you down but they can’t knock you out unless you let them do it.

Sometimes we forgive, but don’t forget…

But what’s reality is that forgetting a terrible past is the beginning of forgiving…

2019 is here… It seems as though I had just walked into a room called 2018, kept my eyes closed for a while and woke up to magically found myself in 2019. It was just yesterday when I sat in my car, waiting for a fellow writer as I sent out my Season’s greetings.
So how different will this year be? What “New” does this New Year have in store that was lacking in the previous year? Of course you can’t expect yourself to turn from a cat to a tiger or Laurel to Hardy. If the last year was full of struggles, this year too might not be the one with Rose petals on a bed. If last year was full of betrayal, be careful there might be a few lurking around this year too.
So what can change? If everything remains the same, what’s the point of celebrating a New Year? There’s one thing that can be changed and it’s us. You read it right, you can change things for a better year ahead.
This year, let us break a few rules.
This year, let us be us, our true selves.
By breaking rules I don’t imply traffic rules or the rules of a board game. By rules I mean certain futile customs that we are bound to follow in order to exist in a fake society. If you don’t like a joke and while the others laugh, put up a gentle smile if you feel like. You don’t need to be like the rest of the crowd. It’s okay to be a little weird. It’s okay to be imperfect. it’s okay to be you.You are you. And no one can change that.
This year, let’s give us a little bit more of our time and try to improve ourselves for the better version of us. Not because we wish to impress someone but because it will make us feel better.
Happy New Year

“Dear Girls,

The truth is, you are not enough. You are not the most beautiful girl around, you are not the smartest scholar, you are not the coolest chick around, you are not the sweetest lark around and most importantly, you cannot always satisfy everyone. Even for the ones who claim to love you, there will be some void that you won’t fill. So, that’s the story.

So what now? Frankly, beat it. Just fucking beat it. No matter what you do, there will be some flaw or the other. They might assume you to be selfish, label you as greedy; but you know who you are. And if they are high ambitious and not persuaded with you, let them live their lives and chase whoever the hell perfectionist they wished to be with. You don’t need to chase them around. You don’t have to prove yourself always. You are who you are, unique and precious. So just be the girl you are and someone with eyes who can appreciate the real you will come around.”

Sometimes, I wish I was pretty… And by pretty I mean very pretty, pretty enough for the love of my life to stare at me, with tireless eyes for hours and hours.

Sometimes, I wish I was sweet, sweet enough to chit chat with coating every reality in candies. So much that my lover would wish to spend days and days with me.

Sometimes I wish I was brainy, brainy enough to know everything that he likes, brainy enough to know his world. And then probably he would be more interested in talking with me.

But most of the times I wonder… Would that actually be me…

There’s this thing about love: it plays around possibilities. The possibilities being: it can take you to cloud nine; it can make you feel special, often as though you were the only one existing on earth and it can also hurt. And when it hurts, it’s almost akin to being left at the Mariana Trench with boulders tied to your feet. What are funny are the transitions. Well, do you believe in phases? Love is a phase. It can last for as short as a day or infinity.
